Abstract
14C dating of the lacustrine sediments of Rovagnate, Pontida and Pianico in the Lombardian Prealps (Northern Italy). Near Rovagnate (Como) Late Glacial and Holocene biogenic sediments at the top of a glaciolacustrine sequence have been dated: the obtained ages extend from 10 620 ± 60 B.P. to 4 780 ± 80 B.P. At Pontida (Bergamo) Wurmian glaciolacustrine sediments have been dated 17 700±360 B.P. This age can also be referred to the ice margin location of the Adda piedmont glacier, which directly dammed the lake of Pontida. Finally wood remains contained in the lacustrine sediments of Pianico (Bergamo) gave l4C ages older than 43 000 years B.P., which do not disagree with the traditional assignement of these sediments to the Riss/Wurm.
