Parametri geomorfici quantitativi e momento evolutivo di un reticolo idrografico: applicazione al bacino del T. Cervo (Biellese) – Quantitative geomorphic parameters and evolutionary moments of an hydrographic network: application to the T. Cervo basin near Biella (Piedmont, Italy)

Abstract
The proof of the existence of a connection between the evolutionary moment of a catchement basin and the morphometric parameters of its fluvial network, has led the authors to verify the possibility of judging a region’s evolutionary stage by means of a quantitative geomorphic analysis of its hydrography.Compared to a previous experience, based essentially on the indications provided by the conservativity parameter, special importance has been given to the connection between drainage frequency and density (MELTON, 1958). The reading of a hydrographic network of the basin of T. Cervo (Biellese), and starting from his premises, has led to the deduction, by a simple comparison of the quantitative parameters, of some indications on the evolutionary moment and on some elements of the local Geomorphology, tallying with data provided by direct observation.
