Abstract
Bathymetric and high resolution seismic lines obtained on the sea-floor off the Maratea Valle}’ (Tyrrhenian margin, South Italy) show the upper Pleistocene-Holocene morphological, structural and depositional setting of the area and suggest a preliminary interpretation of the landslides that affect the Valley and the opposite continental shelf. With particular attention is regarded the presence of the head of a submarine canyon that, through phenomena of regressive erosion, undermine the in-stable masses of the Valley and induce sliding.
