Abstract
A lime series of prccision Icvellings along thc linc Venice-Cortina, measured in the period 1952-1985, have bcen analyzcd. The differences of heights between pairs of markes within a same bench mark havc been distributed in order to estimate the crrors in a single measuring slep. The error of a differenee of beights bctween distanr beneh marks has bccn obtained by propagalion of previous errors considered as ineiependent. All the heights have been rcferred to a bench mark in Treviso, wich \Vas mcasured in alllevcllings. Treviso has been chosen because it is rathet dose IO the Adriatic sca anei because its lithological ground prevents short trend movemcnts as due to anthropogenic subsidencc. The time evolution of each bench mark rcferred to Treviso has bcen considered as lincar. Within the quotcd errors this linear fit is consistent everywhere cxccpt near Venicc whcrc anthropogenic subsidence occurred belorc 1970. The slope of a linear fit of the bench mark evolution vecsus distances is consistent with no movement {rom Preganziol (Venice) to Spresiano, and with a rotational movement increasing the height oC the AJps arouncl a fault, running NE-SW, passing through Spresiano. The rotation is consistent with constant angular velocity; precisc!y 3,6E-02 mm/year km.
