Un terrazzo dell’Età del Ferro nel bacino del Tevere presso Attigliano (Umbria) – An Iron Age terrace in the Tiber basin near Attigliano (Umbria)

Pages 119-122

Abstract

The continental terrace of the Impruneta is formed by a Holocene alluvial deposit bearing Iron Age pottery and several continental molluscs. During the Iron Age, about 2 800 yrs 3.P., a climatic deterioration took place in the whole boreal hemisphere, testified by a general advancing of glacial fronts. The terrace of the Impruneta could represent the evidence of the 2 800 yrs B.P. event in an area not affected by glaciers: molluscs point to a cool-humid climate and the alluvium is made by the elements of an older terrace of Tibet destroyed during a more rainy period.
