Studio delle deformazioni in una coltre argillosa dovute a movimenti lungo faglie nel substrato
Deformations in clay-cover transferred from basement faulting
Keywords:
Shallow tectonics, Faults, Mechanic propertiesAbstract
The problem of how a vertical movement along a fault in the base-rock is transferred to the surface through clay layers has been studied. The study has been carried out on the basis of a known geological situation using the finite element method. A non-linearly elastic behavior has been assumed for the clay. Slips of 10 to 100 cm have been considered at the fault. It has been found out that the entire slip is transferred to the surface as a very gently folding and that there is no failure propagating in the clay layers above the base rock.
