Idrografia e cronologia tettonica: applicazine di un metodo basato sulla fotointerpretazione
Hydrography and tectonic chronology: application of a photointerpretation-based method
Keywords:
Hydrography, Neotectonics, Tectonics, PhotointerpretationAbstract
In the preliminary phase of geological exploration of a region with recent tectonics, the fault trend characterized by the youngest motions can be rapidly recognized by the Coincidence Index statistically computed by matching the hydrographic and the fault networks. With the basic assumption that more recent is a fault and less it nucleated the surface waters, [ classified the fault sets at various degrees of coincidence with streams by interpretation of aerial photos and satellite images at various scales in zones of Algeria, Tunisia and Ecuador with different hydrographic conditions and tectonic regimes. The results have been compared with the tectonic chronology based on field data.
