Abstract

The paper reports the results of palynological analyses carried out on peat and clay samples collected near the snout of the Rutor Glacier (Aosta Valley). These analyses confirm the hypothesis formerly expressed regarding the age of the peat formation (8000-5000 years) and its dislocations caused by fluctuations of the snout which, however, probably did not affect the clay bed underlying the peat deposit.
