Glacier, Mount KenyaAbstract
A new map at broad scale of the Lewis Glacier (Mount Kenya, Eastern Africa) has been published by S. HASTENRATH & R. A. CAUKWELL. The map, drawn after an aerial photogrammetric survey in 1978, can be compared to the one HASTENRATH & CAUKWELL already published after an aerial survey of 1974. The author points out that there has been a reduction of the 2% in the area of glacier and shortly examines how this happened. Then he quotes the data HASTENRATH & CAUKWELL, gave, referring to the reduction of thickness (4 m on the average) and of volume (1 200 x 10 3 m3 ) of the glacier.
