Livio Trevisan (1909-1996) and his contribution to Physical Geography

Abstract

Livio Trevisan, teacher of Geology at the University of Pisa during forty years, member of important scientific Institutions, who died on the late 1996, was author of original research in many fields of Physical Geography. His fundamental contributions regard glacial morphology, marine and fluvial terraces, river dynamics, the evolution of hydrographic network in relation to tectonic structures, landslides. The regions explored were the Alps, the Northern Apennines, Tuscany, the Island of Elba, Sicily. He also was author of 25 tables of the «Atlante dei Tipi Geografici». As Geologist Trevisan was one of the most important figures of his generation and played a primary role in the development of the Earth’s Sciences.
