Abstract

From 1988 to 1991 various investigations have been carried out on the Ghiacciaio del Calderone (Apennines). The glacier is retreating rapidly in accordance with global trends, but it has not disappeared. A detailed survey made in 1990 indicates a reduction in area of more than 209 since 1960. A geo-electric survey indicates that the central sector is about 10 m thick.
