Abstract

Southeastwards of Trasimenus Lake runs the Tresa River. The present pattern of its drainage basin together with its inferred geomorphic evolution gives useful indications about neotectonic events which affected the Umbria region with special reference to the Piedmont area of Apennines where large plio-pleistocenic lakes developed. In fact apparently the sequence of phases of the evolution of the Tresa network, allows to point out a tectonic tensional phase of middle-upper Pleistocene age.
